Southeast Relic Hunters
SERH's journey began when my wife bought a metal detector so that I could find property markers in my yard in 2018. Little did she know that she was opening a new chapter in our lives. At that time I was always watching history/archaeology videos. I saw a YouTube video of a guy metal detecting for Civil War artifacts. I thought of the metal detector sitting in my garage and said, "I can do that!". It didn't take long before my young sons were asking for their own metal detectors, urging me to start posting videos of our adventures on YouTube, and Southeast Relic Hunters was born! We now spend our free time traveling around the southeast learning and saving history, one relic at a time!
Educational Adventures
In April of 2022 SERH launched the Educational Adventures Program. The first hands on, educational, interactive experience for children to learn and touch our nation’s history. Southeast Relic Hunters believes in the recovery and preservation of historical artifacts. We have been traveling the east coast for two years conducting research, metal detecting, and excavating relics. Each relic is a piece of history saved! We believe in honoring our past and passing that on to generations to come. We are excited to offer your children the opportunity to do something not many can say they have done: hold history in their hands! Your child will have the opportunity to learn about local Civil War history through video, step foot on hallowed ground, locate, and excavate Civil War relics left behind over 150 years ago! This process will facilitate a link between them and those who formed our nation!
Since the inception of Educational Adventures, we have expanded to offer more opportunities to enjoy the hobby of metal detecting! If you are a beginner, or a seasoned veteran of metal detecting, we have you covered at SERH.
After a lot of requests, we have expanded our Civil War Adventure to adults. The program will consist of some history via video, followed by the field excursion.
For those who want to learn the hobby of metal detecting without going through the entire Civil War program, we have started the Historic Tennessee Adventure! Historic Tennessee gives the opportunity to metal detect on a property that was inhabited no less than 100 years ago. This program is more affordable and caters to any level of metal detecting experience. This is a great way to learn the hobby, and find some amazing relics at the same time!
